HATTIESURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss baseball team opens a five-game road swing Tuesday when they travel to the Crescent City to face New Orleans in a 6:30 p.m., at First NBC Ballpark/Maestri Field.

Southern Miss plays a Privateer squad that holds a 4-4 record this season, after winning two of three games over the weekend in their own tournament. UNO defeated Ball State and Virginia Tech, before falling to Iowa in the final contest.
This will be the first of two meetings between the two squads this season as Southern Miss holds a 55-49 overall record in the series and have won the last four and 16 of the last 17 games against the Privateers.
Through the first seven games, the Golden Eagles have enjoyed a strong offensive output by averaging 10.1 runs per game to start the season with four double-digit run games. The squad, which hit 90 homers a year ago, have belted 11 home runs already to start this season.
Leading the way is junior Luke Reynolds with his four home runs to go along with a .481 batting average and a team best 13 runs, four doubles and 13 runs batted in.
