HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss sophomore Mason Robbins earned preseason third-team All-America honors in the outfield by Baseball America in a release by the publication Thursday afternoon.
Robbins, a left-handed outfielder and pitcher, comes off a successful initial campaign with the Golden Eagles as a Freshman All-American and as the C-USA Freshman of the Year by batting .330 with 11 doubles, five triples, three home runs and 38 runs batted in. In addition, he posted a 1-0 pitching record with a 4.01 earned run average.
The Leakesville, Miss., product is the only Conference USA player to make one of the three teams and is one of only nine underclassmen to earn a mention.
Baseball America annually polls major league scouting directors to vote on the teams and make their selections based on performance, talent and professional potential.
