Baseball Dugout Banquet Set for February 3

Jan. 16, 2018

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Former Golden Eagle baseball standout and current Minnesota Twin second baseman Brian Dozier has been announced as the keynote speaker for the 15th annual Southern Miss Dugout Club banquet in the Thad Cochran Center, Saturday, Feb. 3.

The event begins at 6 p.m., and consists of a dinner, a silent auction, as well as the opportunity to meet the 2018 baseball team. It also gives Dugout Club members the opportunity to gather and fellowship with other members. While the event begins at 6 p.m., Dozier will sign autographs photos, as provided by Southern Miss baseball, from 4:45-5:45 p.m. at the event.

The Fulton, Miss., native got his start at Southern Miss from 2006-2009 and cemented himself as one of the best players to ever wear the black and gold. After being taken in the 8th round by the Twins in the 2009 draft, Dozier made a quick ascent to the big-league club where he has become a fixture on a club that made the postseason for the first time in seven seasons this past fall.

Dozier is the only player in Major League History to homer in his first plate appearance in a Major League All-Star game as well as the MLB playoffs. Dozier continues to carve himself a legacy for himself as the second baseman for the Minnesota Twins. As a member of that organization since 2012, Dozier recently earned his first Gold Glove following the 2017 season.

“We look forward to having one of our own come back to be our keynote speaker this year in Brian Dozier,” said Southern Miss baseball coach Scott Berry. “I know Brian will have some great stories to tell us from his time with the Twins as well as give our team an uplifting message as we get ready for the 2018 season.”

Tickets for the banquet are $25 per person. Seating is limited to the first 400 people. To reserve your seat, call Collin Cargill at 601.266.6542 or email him at
