Upcoming Southern Miss Baseball Camps Set at Pete Taylor Park
The Winter Showcase camp has been moved back a week to Jan. 20, due to expected inclement weather this weekend.
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss baseball program will feature a pair of upcoming baseball camps, including a Winter Showcase as well as the Kid’s Spring Break camp.
The Winter Showcase Camp takes place Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field. The date has been moved back a week from its original one as inclement weather is expected in the area this Saturday.
Registration for the camp begins at 11 a.m., that day with the camp starting at 12 noon and run through the completion of the workout.
This camp is designed to allow current high school freshman through junior college sophomore (junior college freshman must be academic qualifier) baseball players the chance to learn the skills needed to compete at the next level while receiving instruction from current Southern Miss coaches, various junior college coaches and other four-year Institutions.
The price is $155 per camper and the cost includes instruction, insurance, and a Southern Miss camp t-shirt. The itinerary will include instruction specific to each participant's defensive position, improving 60 times and hitting. Any pitcher will be allowed to also participate at their other position.
The camp will be limited to the first 100 applicants and will take place at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field.
The Spring Break Kid’s camp is open to all kids ages 6-13 and the four-day camp will run March 12-15 from 9 a.m.-12 noon each day. The camp is limited to the first 50 applicants and will cost $180. Each camper receives a complimentary t-shirt and insurance. In addition, each camper will receive a ticket for the March 16 Conference USA contest against UTSA and all will get a chance to be on the field with the Golden Eagles during the national anthem, prior to the 6 p.m., contest.
