Baseball Uses 12-1 Win In Seven Innings To Collect Weekend Sweep Against Dallas Baptist
David Clark Wins Seventh Game of the Season, Trey Sutton and Brian Dozier Each Collect Three Hits and an RBI

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss scored nine runs in the first inning and never looked back en route to a 12-1 victory in seven innings over Dallas Baptist, today, to complete the weekend sweep at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field in front of 2,869 in attendance.
With the win, the Golden Eagles collect their second-straight sweep in as many weeks and have won six of their last eight games, eight of nine and 10 of 13 games.
David Clark (7-4) won his seventh game of the season, pitching six innings, giving up one run on four hits, walking one and striking out five batters. JR Ballinger pitched the final inning, striking out one batter.
Patriot starter Jordan Meaker (5-3) lasted two-thirds of inning, giving up nine runs on 10 hits and walking one batter. Jereme Wilson pitched 4.1 innings, giving up three runs, two earned, on four hits, walking four and striking out three batters. Tyler Rowland pitched the final inning, walking one.
Southern Miss' Trey Sutton and Brian Dozier each finished with three hits and one RBI, and Luke Adkins and Drew Carson each collected two hits and two RBIs. Eddie Burger and James Ewing each registered two RBIs. Matt Tucker led the Patriots with two hits and one RBI.
The Golden Eagles (33-19) scored 12 runs on 14 hits, while Dallas Baptist (27-26) scored one run on four hits and committed two errors.
Southern Miss struck for nine runs in the first inning. Sutton led off the innning with a double down the left field line, Dozier singled through the left side and Michael Ewing walked to load the bases. James Ewing singled through the right side to drive in Sutton and Dozier. Carson singled to center to drive in Michael Ewing.
Bo Davis reached on an infield single to short to load the bases once again, before Burger drove in James Ewing and Carson with a single to right field. Sutton's infield single to short scored Davis, Dozier's infield single to short drove in Burger, Adkins' single through the right side plated Sutton and Michael Ewing's single to left drove in Dozier for the ninth run of the inning.
The Golden Eagles scored a single run in the third inning to extend its lead to 10-0. Dozier doubled to left field and then scored on Adkins' single to center.
The Patriots scored their lone run of the game in the fourth inning. Evan Bigley hit a two-out single to left field and scored on Tucker's double to left center.
The Golden Eagles scored single runs in the fourth and fifth inning to provide the final outcome, 12-1.
In the fourth inning, Carson reached second base on a fielding error by third baseman Tucker. He advanced to third on Bo Davis' ground out to short and scored on Chris Matesich's ground out to short.
In the fifth inning, James Ewing reached on a two-out walk and scored on Carson's double to right center.
The Golden Eagles travel to New Orleans, La., on Tuesday, May 15, for a 6:30 p.m., match-up with New Orleans. They travel to Houston, Texas, on Thursday - Saturday, May 17-19, to face Houston in the final conference series of the season. Thursday's game will be televised on CSTV at 7 p.m., Saturday's game will begin at 7 p.m., and Saturday's game will begin at 1 p.m.
