NEW ORLEANS - Brandon Boudreaux had five hits, including a pair of home runs, and drove in four runs to lead Tulane to a 9-5 Conference USA baseball victory over Southern Miss here Friday night at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.

The Golden Eagles (25-20 overall, 9-7 in C-USA) lost for the second consecutive time while having a two-game winning streak snapped against the Green Wave.

Tulane finished the night with three home runs as Boudreaux hit solo shots in both the first and sixth innings, while designated hitter Andrew Garner blasted a two-run shot in the sixth. Boudreaux now has eight on the year, while Garner has posted a pair of the campaign.

Boudreaux got the Green Wave on the board on the first pitch from Andrew Pierce in the opening frame as he hit it over the rightfield fence. He added a solo shot off of reliever Jay Myrick in the sixth.

After the Golden Eagles closed the gap to 7-5 in the seventh on a bases-clearing double by Isaac Rodriguez, Garner belted a two-run homer just over the leftfield foul pole in the bottom of the frame.

Andrew Reeves allowed two runs (one earned) over 5 1/3 innings with three walks and a strikeout to get the victory for Tulane (30-16, 8-8) and improve to 2-1, while Pierce fell to 6-3 after allowing four runs on nine hits over 3 1/3 innings.

Southern Miss tied the score on a passed ball in the second and had three batters walked, but could only manage the one run. Southern Miss ended leaving 13 runners stranded in the contest. The Green Wave took the lead for good with two runs in the second RBI singles from Boudreaux and Garrett Cannizaro to make the score 3-1.

After Boudreaux drove in another run in the fourth with a single to make the score 4-1, Kameron Brunty cut the gap in the next inning by driving in Mason Robbins, who got on base with a double, with a two-base hit of his own.

Robbins led the Golden Eagles offensively with three hits, while Graeter and Rodriguez added two hits apiece.

Game two of the series is set for 2 p.m., Saturday.
