HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Travis Shreve had a couple of hits and drove in four runs to lead No. 13 UCF to an 11-6 Conference USA baseball victory over Southern Miss here Saturday afternoon at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field.

The Golden Eagles fell to 20-14 overall and 4-4 in Conference USA play, while the Knights improved to 29-8 and 8-3. The deciding game of the series will take place at 11:30 a.m., Sunday, after the Golden Eagles won 1-0 in 14 innings on Friday night.

The Knights, behind 14 hits in the contest, jumped out to an early 3-0 advantage after getting two runs in the first and another in the second.

Southern Miss, though, tied the game with three in the third. With one out, Austin Roussel singled and Michael Sterling got hit by a pitch. Ashley Graeter then delivered a two-run double to right centerfield before going to third on a wild pitch and then scoring on a groundout by Kameron Brunty.

The visitors increased their lead to as much as 7-3, before the Eagles rallied for three more runs in the eighth as Mason Robbins connected on a two-run single to rightfield and Connor Barron later scored on a wild pitch to cut the deficit to one run.

UCF then put the game out of reach with four more tallies in the ninth as D.J. Hicks added a sacrifice fly to complete his three RBI day for the Knights.

Freshman Golden Eagle starter Jake Drehoff (5-1) lost for the first time this season as he surrendered four runs on seven hits with two walks and four strikeouts over 4 2/3 innings.

Chris Matulis (5-0) gave up three runs on six hits and two walks with four strikeouts to capture the victory and stay perfect for the season. UCF reliever Roman Madrid threw the final 1 2/3 to register his second save of the year.
