TUSACALOOSA, Ala. - Josh Rosecrans had two home runs and four RBI to lead the Alabama Crimson Tide (7-9) to an 8-3 victory over Southern Miss (10-7) on Tuesday at Sewell-Thomas Stadium in Tuscaloosa.
Southern Miss stranded a season-high 11 base runners in the defeat but were led at the plate by freshman right fielder Mason Robbins who was 3-for-5 at the plate with a run scored.
The Tide jumped out to an early 3-0 led behind Rosecrans' first home run of the day in the first inning, a two-run shot to left field.
The Golden Eagles tied it up in the sixth on Fowler's triple to left center to get Connor Barron in from second, but Alabama added five runs in an extended seventh inning and Southern Miss was never able to make up the deficit.
Taylor Nunez (1-2) suffered the loss for the Golden eagles while Ian Gardeck (1-1) picked up the win, both in relieving efforts.
Southern Miss returns home this weekend to Pete Taylor Park to host Murray State for a three-game set beginning with a Friday night game at 6 p.m.
