Former Golden Eagle standout Beau Griffin is in his first year as the Director of Baseball Operations. Griffin assists with the day-to-day operations of the Golden Eagle baseball office, which also includes working with academics, camps, game-day operations, on-campus recruiting and the equipment operation.
He also assists with administration of the Dugout Club, handling the membership database and administration of the preseason banquet. In addition to his baseball duties, Griffin assists with the operation of the Corky Palmer Golf Tournament each fall.
Griffin was a four-year starter at third base for the Golden Eagles from 2002-05. He came to Southern Miss in 2002 as part of the most heralded recruiting class in the school's history.
He helped lead USM to the 2003 regular season and conference championships and three NCAA Tournament appearances. Griffin was named to the C-USA All-Tournament team in 2003. As a senior in 2005, he hit .305 with 15 doubles, one triple, two home runs and 41 RBIs. He finished with over 100 fielding assists during each of his sophomore and junior seasons and had 92 as a senior.
He graduated from Southern Miss in May 2005 with a bachelor's degree in environmental biology. He is currently pursuing a master's degree in sport management, also from Southern Miss and will complete the requirements this summer.
Griffin is the son of Kyle and Lynette Griffin of Youngsville, La.
