Sat out the 2014 season due to NCAA transfer rules...Played in the Northwoods League last summer for the Mankato Moondogs and posted a combined 6-5 record during the regular season and playoffs, totaling 42 strikeouts and just 14 walks over 80 1/3 innings and a 4.03 ERA.

Played two seasons at Louisiana-Lafayette and posted a 1-2 record with a 4.05 earned run average as a freshman with 32 strikeouts and nine walks over 40 innings of work in 20 relief appearances ... In 2013, he compiled a 4-2 record to go along with a save and a 5.63 ERA in 38 1/3 innings ... Fanned 21 and walked just five as he made 16 appearances, including one start

A three-time letterwinner at Acadiana High School for head coach Scott McCollough, Cockrell was a perfect 10-0 on the mound as a senior earning all-state honors while leading the Rams to the 5A State Quarterfinals ... As a junior in 2010, Cockrell went 8-5 with a 3.24 ERA and 64 strikeouts en route to earning first team All-Acadiana honors from The Daily Advertiser ... Also hit .281 with eight RBI and saw time at shortstop
