Molly Cannell

Position: Certified Athletic Trainer For Baseball Alma Mater: Ohio State, '04

Molly Cannell is in her second year as the certified athletic trainer for baseball. Cannell was hired as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Southern Miss in July 2007 and serves as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Southern Miss. Her duties involve the care, rehabilitation and prevention of athletic injuries for the program. She is also currently serving as the Co-Clinical Coordinator in the Athletic Training Education Program where she maintains undergraduate education programs and oversees athletic training students. She also supervises, provides clinical instruction and evaluates students in the athletic training education program.

She served as the graduate assistant athletic trainer at Alabama from 2004-06 where they won two College World Series titles in `04-'05 and `06-'07. She worked with the softball program, covering practice and games and handling training room duties associated with the sport. Cannell also supervised, provided clinical instruction and evaluation of students in their athletic training education program.

Cannell was an athletic training student at Ohio State from 2001 until 2004. While there, she worked with the football, softball, men's and women's gymnastics, women's tennis, cross country and track and field teams, traveling with the track and field and women's tennis programs. She also earned field experience at several high schools in the Columbus area. She earned her bachelor's degree in Athletic Training from Ohio State in 2004 and her master's degree in Sport Management from Alabama in 2006.

She holds professional memberships in the National Athletic Training Association, the Southeastern Athletic Training Association and the Mississippi Athletic Training Association. She is an active member of the Alabama Sport Management Association and holds certifications by the NATA, the American Heart Association in heart and CPR and by the American Red Cross in first aid.

Cannell is a Native of Columbus, Ohio and the daughter of George and Karen Cannell of Columbus, Ohio.
