Southern Miss Sends Seven to Eugene for NCAA Division I Outdoor Track Nationals

HATTIESBURG, Miss. –
Seven track and field athletes are set to compete in the 2018 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore., June 6-9.

McKinely West will represent Southern Miss in two individual events, the 100m and the 200m, as well as run a leg of the 4x100m relay. Seniors Alexander Richemond and Cra’vorkian Carson along with fellow JUCO transfer, Chedlin Sagesse, will run the men’s 4x100m to open the meet on Wednesday at 6:30 pm CT.

John Warren, in the triple jump, will compete on Friday at 7:40 pm CT and is in the first flight with a seed mark of 16.59m. Warren was named a 2018 NCAA Indoor All-American after finishing sixth in the triple jump. He also currently holds both the indoor and outdoor triple jump school records and the indoor and outdoor C-USA championship meet records in the triple jump.

Senior Alexis Chiles qualified at the East Prelim meet with a shot put mark of 16.69m, a new school record as well. The C-USA champion is set to go in the second flight at 8:10 pm CT.

Rounding out the competition is freshman Callie Jones, who is ranked second in the East Region in the javelin with a 47.96m seed mark. Jones is currently the school record holder and a C-USA Champion in the javelin and is scheduled to throw at 7:15 pm CT.

The finals for West in the 100m, 200m, and the men’s 4x100 is set for Friday between 7:30-9:00 pm CT.
