TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Southern Miss cross country team placed a runner in the top 25 as the Golden Eagles placed 11th out of 27 teams at the NCAA South Region Championships Friday at the Harry Pritchett Running Course in Tuscaloosa, Ala. The 11th-place finish is two places better than last season.
Sophomore Felice Johnson ran a time of 20:54.54 in the 6K race in placing 25. Redshirt freshman Rebecca Ulrich came in 44th with a time of 21:16.14 while freshman Daphney Stanford (89) ran a time of 21:53.87 and redshirt freshman Katie Canavin (101) covered the course in a time of 22:05.82. Rounding out the Golden Eagle finishes were freshmen Kristin Zarrella (116) with a time of 22:22.25 and Dana Dillistone (172) with a time of 24:41.90.
Florida State won the women's team standings with 35 points. Vanderbilt was second with 116, Alabama was third with 143 and Florida placed fourth with 153. Mississippi closed out the top five with 169 points. FSU's Colleen Quigley took the individual title after running a time of 19:58.55.
