DENTON, Texas - The Southern Miss cross country team claimed sixth-place at the 2013 Conference USA Cross Country Championship Saturday morning.
The Golden Eagles placed two players in the top 20 as Felice Johnson covered the 5K course in a time of 17:24.67. Rebecca Ulrich placed 15th overall with a time of 17:49.08. Katie Canavin ran a time of 18:23.87 to finish 31st.
Rounding out the Golden Eagle finishes were Kristin Zarrella (42) with a time of 18:48.63 and Dana Dillistone (65) with a time of 19:25.67.
Courtney Filliben went down during the race and did not finish.
UAB's Elinor Kirk captured the individual title with a time of 17:09.84. The top five finishers earned first team all-conference while five thru 10 received second team all-conference and third team all finishers from 11-15. Johnson earned first team all-league honors as Ulrich was named to the third team
Tulsa and UTSA shared the team title with 67 points each followed by North Texas (3rd) with 105 points.
Up next for Southern Miss is NCAA Regionals Friday, Nov. 15, in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
