FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Southern Miss women's cross country team placed 18th with 573 points at the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival Saturday at Agri Park, in Fayetteville, Ark.
Senior Stephanie Ledgerwood placed in the top 10 by finishing eighth overall out of 341 runners with a time of 21:11.0 in the 6K.
Freshman Felice Johnson ran a time of 23:04.7 and finished 89th followed by Krista Moylan with a time of 23:11.3 for 99th. Rounding out the Golden Eagle finishes included Jocelyn Lockhart at 140 with a time of 23:51.1 and Kara Moylan with a time of 25:58.7 for 237.
Arkansas' women's team won the team title with 58 points after placing four runners in the top 20. Jess Engel of Oklahoma crossed the finished line first overall with a time of 20:42.1 to claim the individual title.
Southern Miss will take the next two weeks in preparation for the Conference USA Cross Country Championship as the Golden Eagles will serve as host on Oct. 29.
