Golden Eagle Cross Country Team Places Sixth in the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Southern Miss cross country team placed sixth out of 15 Division I teams at the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival Saturday.

Sophomore Felice Johnson was the top finisher for the Golden Eagles as she placed 24th overall and covered the 5K course in a time of 18:24.3. Rebecca Ulrich (30) ran a time of 18:55.1 followed by Katie Canavin (39) with a time of 19:26.5, Dana Dillistone (41) posted a time of 19:29.0, Daphney Stanford (50) ran a time of 19:45.5 and Courtney Filliben (65) posted a time of 20:12.1.

Southern Miss finished with 181 points while the host Arkansas took the team title with a total of 16 points followed by LMU with 88 points, Texas Tech had 98 and Central Arkansas tallied 98 points each and North Texas rounded out the fifth-place team with 106 points.

The Golden Eagles will compete in the Crimson Tide Classic on Oct. 18.
