TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Southern Miss' Stephanie Ledgerwood captured the women's individual title, covering the 6K course in 21:01.3, eight seconds ahead of the next finisher at the Florida State Cross Country Invitational Friday evening.
Ledgerwood ran past runners from South Florida and Jacksonville on her way to staking a claim to the course record as this was the first year the women raced over 6 kilometers.
The Golden Eagles placed four runners in the top 20 as the team finished third overall out of 18 teams with 110 points.
Krista Moylan placed eighth overall with a time of 22:18.4 followed by Jocelyn Lockhart at 12th overall with a time of 22:30.8. Felice Johnson covered the course with a time of 23:14.5 in finishing 22nd and Kara Moylan ran a time of 25:09.2.
Florida State captured both the men's and women's titles.
The Golden Eagles will travel to Fayetteville, Ark., for the Chili Pepper Invitational on Oct. 13.
