Southern Miss Women's Cross Country Team Claims First Screamin' Eagle 5K Festival Title
Golden Eagles place four runners in the top five

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's cross country team placed four runners in the top five in claiming the team title at the Screamin' Eagle 5K Festival Saturday morning at the Southern Miss Dedicated Cross Country Facility.
The Golden Eagles scored 26 points followed by Tulane with 34, Alcorn State was next with 65, Belhaven was fourth with 109 and Tougaloo was fifth with 112 points.
Senior Stephanie Ledgerwood crossed the finish line first for the overall winner in the 5K with a time of 18:17.26. Ledgerwood led a pack of six runners then broke away around the 4K marker. Tulane's Paige Callahan came in second with a time of 18:31.98.
Jocelyn Lockhart finished third overall with a time of 18:47.50 followed by Krista Moylan with a time of 18:55.50 while freshman Felice Johnson was fifth overall with a time of 19:15.12. Kara Moylan placed 13th overall with a time of 21:53.35.
Tulane captured the men's team title with 16 points after placing six runners in the top seven spots. Mark Manion ran a time of 27:39.06 in the 8K for the individual winner.
Alcorn State was second in the team totals with 56 points and Belhaven was third with 57 points.
Southern Miss next travel to the Chili Pepper Invitational on Oct. 13 in Fayetteville, Ark.
