Track and Field Concludes Season at NCAA Division I Outdoor National Track and Field Championships

EUGENE, Ore. – Southern Miss track and field teams closed out the season at the 2017 Division I NCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championship Wednesday.

Junior Cra’vorkian Carson ran a time of 10.27 in the semifinals of the 100 meters, but was unable to advance to the finals. Carson placed seventh in his heat with that time and was 18 overall in claiming NCAA Honorable Mention All-American.

Emron Gibbs also received NCAA Honorable Mention All-American honors after placing 20th overall in the men’s javelin after a throw of 66.76m.

“Emron and Cra’vorkian had incredible seasons and I’m extremely proud of both of them, said head coach Jon Stuart. “Making it to the NCAA Championships is a highlight in itself and competing as well as they did puts an exclamation point on a fabulous year.”
