HOUSTON, Texas - The Southern Miss men's and women's track and field teams completed competition at the 2013 Conference USA Outdoor Championship on Sunday finishing seventh (55 points) and 12th (22 points), respectively, as a team.
Highlighting the final day of competition, redshirt senior Kyle Smith won his second C-USA javelin title of his career with a season-best throw of 72.05m (236-5). Teammate Ethan Rich placed third with a throw of 62.48m (205-0).
Randy MCoy captured a silver medal with a second-place finish in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 13.94 while Courtland Wells took fifth-place with a time of 14.85.
Elbert Rogers placed fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 48.13.
Christopher Monroe placed fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 14.64m (48-00.50)
The 4x400 meter relay team was fifth with a time of 3:15.37
Felice Johnson placed sixth in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:30.69. Stephanie Ledgerwood finished eighth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 16:45.09
Kayla Taylor placed sixth in the discus with a throw of 47.67m (156-5).
