Golden Eagle Track and Field Teams Hold Seventh and Ninth Place in the Standings

HOUSTON, Texas - The Southern Miss track and field teams stand in seventh (m-8 pts) and ninth place (w-18 pts), respectively, after the second day of third day of competition at the Conference USA Outdoor Track and Field Championship.

Krista Moylan and Courtland Wells highlighted the performances of the day when Moylan finished second in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 10:34.77 and Wells placed second in the men's high jump with a jump of 2.04m (6-8.25).

Stephanie Ledgerwood placed fourth in the 10,000 meters with a time of 35:16.91.

The women's team got points from Taira Carney who placed seventh in the long jump with a jump of 5.89m (19-4). Kayla Taylor was sixth in the discus with a throw of 47.67m (156-0).

Golden Eagles advancing to the finals for competition on Sunday included Randy McCoy (14.12) and Wells (14.69) in the 110 meter hurdles while Orain McLeggon (55.11) and Bryan Earl (55.16) advanced in the 400 meter hurdles.

C-USA Championship action resumes at 5 p.m. on Sunday with the men's shot put and women's triple jump. All running events are final and get under way at 6 p.m. with the 4x100m relay teams.
