Track and Field Pick up Five Events Wins and A School Record at the Warhawk Classic
MONROE, La. – The Southern Miss men’s and women’s track and field teams bring home five event wins and a new school record after the Warhawk Classic in Monroe, La.
John Warren continues to break school records and today was no different. The junior broke the triple jump record with a mark of 15.83m along with the event win.
Seniors Alexander Richemond and Cra’vorkian Carson both picked up wins in their events. Richemond in the 100m, ran a 10.68 with McKinely West coming in second with a time of 10.70 while Carson ran the 200m in 21.82.
The men’s 4x100m relay, comprised of Carson, Richemond, West and Chedlin Sagesse, finished first with a time of 39.76 and to finish the running events was Lorenzen Burton who finished second in the 400m with a time of 49.81.
Rounding out the men top five finishes is the field crew with a second and third finish in the hammer throw. Robert Watson came in second with a toss of 59.91m with Donald Daley finishing third with a throw of 59.04m.
Danisha Jones had the event win in the women’s discus with a toss of 51.10m. Callie Jones picked up a second place finish in the long jump with a mark of 5.65m and a third place finish in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.84. Adrianna Mitchell came in second in the triple jump with a mark of 11.48m.
In the women’s 100m, Rikianne Patterson ran 12.03 for a second place finish with Keiyana Gaskin in third after running a 12.05. In the 400m, Chenelle Ricketts finished second with a time of 56.33 and teammate Rian Robinson finished third with a time of 57.13. Talia Thompson came in second in the 400m hurdles with at ime of 1:02.65 to finish up the meet.
Next on the schedule for the Golden Eagles is the LSU Alumni Gold meet in Baton Rouge, La. this upcoming weekend, April 21.
