TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Southern Miss outdoor track and field teams had a pair of Golden Eagles claim individual event titles while placed 10 performers in the top eight at the John Mitchell Alabama Relays at Sam Bailey Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Ala., Saturday.
Rachel Polk recorded a mark of 50.68m (166-3) in the discus in placing first out of 29 competitors. Kayla Taylor placed fifth in the event with a throw of 46.81m (153-7).
Randy McCoy ran a time of 13.99 in the 110-meter hurdles placing first out of 25 runners.
The women's 4x100-meter relay team (LaSpencia Brown-Adriana Allen-Paige Jones-Jazmyne Gilliam) ran a time of 47.39 to finish seventh overall. In the 4x2, the same team placed eighth with a time of 1:42.72.
Taylor placed seventh in the shot with a throw of 13.31m (43-8).
The men's 4x400-meter relay team (Kahlil Frazier-Trevor Campbell-Derrick Johnson-Elbert Rogers) placed eighth with a time 3:13.88.
Courtland Wells finished in a tie for fifth in the high jump with a mark of 2.00m (6-6.75) while Kenton Sams recorded a jump of 2.00m (6.6.75).
Robert Collingwood had a throw of 17.71m (58-1.25) in the shot in placing fifth.
Ethan Rich finished third in the javelin with a throw of 65.06m (213-5).
Southern Miss will compete next in the Texas Relays March 26-29 in Austin, Texas.
