Indoor Track and Field Teams Conclude Day One in Seventh- and Ninth-Place

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Southern Miss indoor track and field teams completed competition on the first day of the 2013 Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Championships are complete at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala., as the men's team tallied 13 points and the women's team had 14 points for seventh and ninth-place in the team standings.
Four Golden Eagles recorded points for Southern Miss in addition to the women's distance medley relay team. Suyi Georgewill posted a fourth-place finish with a mark of 17.58m (57-8.25) while Robert Collingwood was fifth with a personal-best throw of 17.01m (55-9.75) in scoring five and four points, respectively.
Courtland Wells placed fifth in the high jump competition with a mark of 2.01m (6-7).
Krista Moylan finished fourth in the 5,000 meters with a school record performance of 16:44.95 and Stephanie Ledgerwood was next in fifth-place with a time of 16:56.84 as the two combined for nine points.
The women's distance medley relay team (Jocelyn Lockhart-Paige Jones-Kara Moylan-Felice Johnson) finished fourth with a school-record time of 11:45.60.
Randy McCoy ran a personal-best time of 8.02 in the 60-meter hurdles in the preliminary round to advance to the finals. Elbert Rogers posted a time of 48.77 in the 400 meters, qualifying for the finals.
Several Golden Eagles turned in personal-best marks in various events. LiRoy Cage ran a personal-best time of 22.01 in the 200 meters with Derrick Johnson running a persona-best time of 22.01 and Jordan Crump a personal-best time of 22.33. Jamar Sims recorded a jump of 6.96m (22-10).
Sylvia Hinton ran a personal-best time in the 400 meters with a time of 57.14 as Paige Jones posted a PR time of 57.84 and Taylor Outland also posted a PR with a time of 1:00.15. Jocelyn Lockhart ran a personal-best time in the 800 meters with a time of 2:15.33.
