HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss' former track and field standout Ganna Demydova completed her competition at the 2012 London Olympics in the triple jump, finishing 15th-overall in the qualifying round.

Demydova, representing her native country of Ukraine, recorded a mark of 13.97m (45'10") in her first attempt, but it wasn't good enough to advance into the finals. Only the top 12 advanced. On her second attempt, she registered a jump of 13.60m (44'7 3/8") before a foul in her final attempt in the qualifying round.

Demydova is the reigning NCAA outdoor triple jump champion with a meet record 14.30m (46-7.25") mark. During her career, she earned one indoor and two outdoor USTFCCCA First Team All-American honors while claiming three Conference USA titles (one indoor and two outdoor). This past season in the outdoor competition, Demydova recorded the school, conference and national record in the triple jump. She also was named the 2012 Conference USA Field Athlete of the Year.
