Two More Golden Eagles Qualify for NCAA National Track & Field Outdoor Championship

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Golden Eagle track and field teams added two more student-athletes to their list on national qualifiers heading to the 2012 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Rachel Polk became the third Golden Eagle to record a qualifying mark in advancing the national meet. Polk registered a mark of 49.92m (161-11) on the first throw which was good enough for 12th-place.

Tori Bowie ran the fourth fastest time in the quarterfinals in advancing to the national meet after posting a time of 11.31. She finished second in her heat as the top three finishers in addition to the next three best times advance to the national meet.

Dale Dunn just missed qualifying for the national meet as he placed 14th overall in the quarterfinals after posting a school-record time of time of 1:49.37.

Suyi Georgewill failed to advance to the national meet. Georgewill had a throw of 54.61m (179-2).

Ke'Airra Jones, competing with an injury, failed to advance in the high jump after posting a jump of 1.77m (5-9.75).

Four Golden Eagles will compete on Saturday with Ganna Demydova and Tamarra Bowie competing in the triple jump, Robert Collingwood in the shot and Marcus Norwood, Jr. in the high jump.
