NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Golden Eagle track and field team wrapped up their competition at the 2012 Conference USA Championship with the women's team finishing third and the men's team placing seventh.

The third place finish for the women was the highest since 2005 when they finished second.

Ganna Demydova highlighted the day's competition with the top two Conference USA triple jump marks in league history with a gold medal performance of 14.03 (46-0.50). That mark had a wind-read of +2.2 which doesn't qualify for regional or world rankings. However, her fourth leap of 13.89m (45-10.50) ranks 14th best in the world this season with a legal win read of +1.0. Tamarra Bowie was fourth with a jump of 12.73m (41-9.75) and Tori Bowie was just behind at fifth with a mark of 12.73m (41-9.25).

For their efforts in the meet, Demydova and Tori Bowie were award the Co-C-USA Female Performances of the Meet. Bowie won the long jump on Saturday with her performance of 6.78m (22-3) ranked fourth in the world and No. 2 nationally.

Ke'Airra Jones was second in the high jump with a mark of 1.79m (5-10.50).

Richard Collingwood placed fifth in the discus with a throw of 49.94m (163-10). Jonathan Ruffin took sixth place in the triple jump with a 14.02m (46-00).

Rachel Polk vaulted into third place on her fifth throw of the competition with a mark of 48.20m (158-2). Cara Wells was fifth with a throw of 45.56m (149-6).

On the track, Randy McCoy placed second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.09. In the 800 meters, Dale Dunn finished second with a personal-best and school record time of 1:49.76 while Julien Bousquet was eighth.

Tori Bowie placed third in the 100 meters with a time of 11.30. Krista Moylan ran a time of 11:11.33 in the steeplechase in placing fifth.

Stephanie Ledgerwood ran a personal-best and school record time of 17:04.38 but just missing placing in the top eight in the field.

The 4x100-meter relay team (Tandra Patterson-Brianna Rayfield-Jamie White-Tori Bowie) placed seventh with a time of 46.68. The men's team (Jonathan Ruffin-Jordan Crump-Marcus Norwood Jr-Jamal Young) ran a time of 42.80 for seventh place. The 4x4 team (Young-Dale Dunn-Bousquet-Cameron Everson) was eighth.

UCF won the women's team title with 160 points with East Carolina finishing second with 132.16 points. Houston claimed the men's title with 170.50 points followed by UTEP with 132 for second and Tulsa was third with 127 points.
