NJCAA Super Southeast Regional Results

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Golden Eagle track and field teams concluded their home schedule on a positive note, recording 29 top eight finishes on the day.

Southern Miss began the day with Cara Wells and Petra Visic finishing 3-4 in the hammer throw. Wells was third with a throw of 50.38m (165-3) while Visic was next with a throw of 164-9. Continuing with the field events, Tandra Patterson finished fourth in the javelin with a throw of 33.81m (110-11) and Ashley Grillot was sixth with a throw of 33.21m (108-11). Ernest Taylor placed seventh with a throw of 35.37m (116-0).

Marcus Norwood, Jr., highlighted the meet becoming a member of the 7-foot jump club. Norwood placed first with a mark of 2.16m (7-1). Courtland Wells was second with a jump of 2.05m (6-8.75).

The 4x100 meter relay of Patterson-Brianna Rayfield-Jamie White-Tori Bowie clocked a time of 45.89 to finish second. On the men's side, Richard-Robert Collingwood-Ruffin-Blank placed seventh with a time of 44.19.

Omotayo turned in a time of 14.47 in the 100 meter hurdles to place second. Randy McCoy was the top finisher with a time of 14.71. Teammate Courtland Wells finished fifth with a time of 15.45.

Jamie White ran a season-best time of 12.01 in the 100 meters for third place while Brianna Rayfield was fourth with a time of 12.04. Former Golden Eagle Chastity Riggien outran the entire field with a time of 11.20.

Dale Dunn and Julien Bousquet finished 1-2 in the 800 meters with times of 1:51.15 and 1:53.97, respectively.

Southern Miss took the top three spots in the hammer led by Suyi Georgewill with a throw of 58.80m (192-11) for first, Napoleon Benoit was second with a throw of 48.26m (158-4) and Robert Collingwood was third with a throw of 45.28m 9148-7).

Rachel Polk placed first in the shot with a throw of 15.30m (50-2.50). Robert Collingwood placed first in the men's competition with a throw of 17.09m (56-1). Richard Collingwood was fourth with a throw of 15.41m (50-6.75).

Polk was the top finisher in the discus with a mark of 49.37m (162-0) while Wells was third with a throw of 47.65m (156-4). Georgewill finished fourth in the discus with a throw of 49.77m (163-3).

Ke'Airra Jones placed first in the high jump with a mark of 1.78m (5-10).

Ganna Demydova competed in the long jump and placed second with a jump of 6.05m (19-10.25). Tamarra Bowie finished third in the triple jump with a mark of 12.64m (41-5.75). Tori Bowie and Ke'Airra Jones were fourth and fifth, respectively. Tori Bowie recorded a jump of 12.44m (40-9.75) while Jones jumped 12.32m (40-5).

Southern Miss will travel to the Conference USA Outdoor Championships in New Orleans, La., at Tad Gormley Stadium, May 10-13.
