The traditions and spirit shared by Southern Miss' students, alumni, and supporters have created a demand for products that display the trademarks, symbols, and insignia associated with Southern Miss. In 1988, the university established a trademark licensing program in response to this demand. Through this program, Southern Miss protects and enhances its reputation by ensuring that only licensed and approved products displaying university trademarks appear before the public. Additionally, the program enables the institution to share in the benefits derived from the commercial use of these trademarks.
All licensees must submit artwork designs through LRG's Trademarx for approval by the USM licensing office prior to production.
