The University of Southern Miss is looking for outgoing, driven, and motivated individuals to assist in a number of internship opportunities ranging from marketing, communications, digital media, graphic design, video/photography, and ticketing.


Internship Options:

Marketing Internship
Students will have the opportunity to assist in developing and executing marketing plans for various athletic programs, including football, basketball, baseball, and Olympic sports. Develop fan-friendly strategies that drive attendance and enhance in-game entertainment and experience. Work in an office setting as well as day of game events, developing a wide range of experiences from developing marketing plans, budgeting, promotional and advertising strategies. Communications Internship
Students will have the opportunity to assist in covering sports programs and executing communication plans for various athletic programs, including football, basketball, baseball, and Olympic sports. Opportunity to write features to tell narrative of athletic programs and student athletes and work in building social media presence of programs. Work in an office setting as well as day of game events, developing a wide range of experiences from developing communication plans, journalism, digital media, and feature writing. Digital Media Internship
Students will have the opportunity to assist in covering sports programs and executing digital media plans for various athletic programs, including football, basketball, baseball, and Olympic sports. Assist in managing social media content on various platforms. Develop strategies and original content to drive attendance and engagement. Work in an office setting as well as day of game events, developing a wide range of experiences from developing digital media plans, social media analytics, and graphic and video content creation. Graphic Design
Internship Students will have the opportunity to assist in developing graphic content for social media, advertising, promotion, and recruiting. Assist in managing the brand for Southern Miss Athletics and developing original content to promote various sports programs to drive attendance and engagement. Work in an office setting as well as day of game events, developing a wide range of experiences from planning graphic campaigns, social media, and content creation. Photography Internship
Students will have the opportunity to shoot athletic events for the department to be utilized for web and social media. Assist in developing photographic content for social media, advertising, promotion, and recruiting. Work in an office setting as well as day of game events, developing a wide range of experiences including social media, and assisting the photography efforts of the department. Video Internship
Students will have the opportunity to assist in producing athletic event broadcasts and developing video content for social media, advertising, promotion, and recruiting. Assist in developing original content to promote various sports programs to drive attendance and engagement. Work in an office setting as well as day of game events, developing a wide range of experiences from broadcast production, shooting and editing video content, developing original features for Athletics. Ticketing Internship
Students will have the opportunity to assist in developing and executing sales plans for various athletic programs, including football, basketball, baseball, and Olympic sports. They will learn the operational side of ticketing as well as the outbound sales side of Athletics. Work in an office setting as well as day of game events, developing a wide range of experiences from ticketing operations, ticket sales, customer service and sales strategy and planning. Additional Information

Positions are unpaid internships that can be used for course credit or on a volunteer basis. Work study positions are also available for any students that qualify for federal work study. Qualified candidates are currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate students. Candidates will be expected to work on a semester basis and commit to a minimum number of events depending on the student’s current schedule and commitments.
