Brent Jones enters his third year as the Associate Athletic Director for Communications at the University.
In this capacity, Jones serves as the department's chief marketing, advertising, and communication officer and has direct oversight and responsibility for the areas of sports information, licensing, video operations, multimedia, broadcasting, IMG College, and is the sport administrator for the university spirit squads.
Since his appointment to the position in June 2011, Jones has increased Twitter followers by 600% and Facebook likes by 300% and has launched numerous billboards campaigns.
Under Jones, the Golden Eagles saw record attendance for C-USA games against UCF and SMU, setting high-water marks for C-USA games for the school. Southern Miss was also featured on three CBS Sports Network specials that resulted in over $400,000 worth of free national exposure and advertising.
Prior to Southern Miss, Jones spent five years at Georgia Southern, first as the Director of Eagle Sports Marketing and then as the Assistant Athletic Director of Eagle Sports Marketing. While there, he raised $8 million in external funding through sponsorships, VIP suites, ticket sales and corporate trade outs. In addition, he secured the top three largest corporate sponsorships in the history of the GSU athletics program as well helped increase football season ticket revenue by 100 percent over that span.
Jones also spent one year as the Director of Game Day Operations for Rebel Sports Marketing at Ole Miss.
Jones is a 2004 graduate of Oglethore University where he earned his degree in History and Secondary Education while also participating as a member of the school's baseball team. He also holds his master's degree from the University of Mississippi.
