Dec. 14, 2010
On behalf of the entire athletic staff, I'd like to wish everyone in the Southern Miss family a very Merry Christmas and the brightest of holidays as yet another amazing year of Southern Miss athletics draws to a close.
Our football season has saved the best for last, and we encourage fans to make plans for attending the Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl (Southern Miss vs. Louisville) set for December 21, 2010 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. We remind our fans that it's important to purchase tickets through the Southern Miss ticket office. Tickets are $30 for the general public, $20 for students and $20 for band and military donations. Fans can go online at SouthernMiss.com, call 1-800-844-TICK (8425) or visit the Pat Ferlise Center Monday through Friday from 8 a.m., until 5 p.m., to purchase tickets.
As football season draws to a close, we are excited about the great start for Golden Eagle basketball. The Eagles are 7-1 coming off a super road performance with an 80-78 win over Cal, the first win over a PAC-10 institution in Golden Eagle history. This was a quality win, and we know good things are ahead for Coach Eustachy and the Eagle players. If you like exciting basketball, don't miss out on seeing some of the most prolific playmakers in our program's history. It's time to get excited about Eagle hoops and we hope to see you at Green Coliseum for the exciting slate of upcoming home games, including our own tournament between Christmas and New Years. It's shaping up to be a competitive conference race, and we need our fans there cheering the Eagles to victory! Our women's basketball team, under the direction of Joye Lee-McNelis, has had some quality wins and its current national RPI is very strong. The women host Alabama during the holidays.
As 2010 comes to a close, I personally want to thank all of our Southern Miss family including our coaches, staff, student-athletes, Circle of Champions, Eagle Club members, alumni and friends who have shown so much loyalty and support for our great University. We have an incredible family and with our continued effort to support our student-athletes, we will strive for excellence and always working to make a difference, Southern Miss will be at the top! Please have a blessed Christmas and our sincere wishes for a Happy and Successful New Year! Let's be Loud and Proud in St. Pete.
