Dec. 7, 2010

Options Available for Attending Bowl Game
Southern Miss fans will be glad to know several options are available for traveling to the Beef O'Brady's Bowl set for December 21, 2010 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. Very reasonable airfares are available for the round trip, departing from Biloxi-Gulfport. Bus trips (from Hattiesburg) are also being coordinated, some for transit only (fans make their own hotel arrangements) and other trips with the hotel included in the package. For more details, contact Dick Vogel at the Eagle Club (Richard.vogel@usm.edu or 601.266.5299).

Eagles to Meet Familiar Foe
Southern Miss will play the Louisville Cardinals from the Big East Conference, and I know that Eagle fans have not forgotten the excitement and competitiveness of games played against this former Conference USA team. This will be the 29th meeting between Southern Miss and Louisville, with the Eagles holding an 18-9-1 series advantage. We expect another exciting game in St. Petersburg and we need our fans to be there, loud and proud.

Buy Tickets Locally
We remind our fans headed to the bowl game that it's important to purchase your tickets through the Southern Miss ticket office. Southern Miss only gets credit for tickets purchased through the school, and our revenue from ticket sales is crucial. Tickets are $30 for the general public, $20 for students and $20 for donations for tickets that will be distributed to charities. Fans can go online at SouthernMiss.com, call 1-800-844-TICK (8425) or visit the Pat Ferlise Center Monday through Friday from 8 a.m., until 5 p.m., to purchase tickets.

Consider a Ticket Donation
For fans unable to travel to the game, we hope you will consider buying tickets for donating to military personnel who live in the St. Petersburg area. The holiday season is a time for giving and this would be a great way to say thank you to the men and women who proudly serve with our nation's armed forces.

The Streaks Live On
Head Coach Larry Fedora and the Eagle coaches and players have completed the regular season with an 8-4 record, and the Eagles extended their streak of winning seasons to 17. This year will mark the ninth consecutive season the Eagles will play in a post-season bowl game!

Hoops Excitement Growing!
Although much attention is still focused on football, the basketball teams are off to exciting starts. The men's team is currently 5-1, and although coming off a tough loss last Saturday, this team could be one of our best in years!
