Athletics Looking to Raise One Scholarship on #GivingTuesdaySMTTT
As part of Giving Tuesday this week, the Southern Miss Department of Athletics will look to fund one student-athlete scholarship in one day. Giving Tuesday's purpose is to come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.
It's a simple idea. Just find a way for your family, your community, your company or your organization to come together to give something more. Then tell everyone you can about how you are giving. Join us and be a part of a global celebration of a new tradition of generosity.
"I am excited that Southern Miss Athletics and the Southern Miss Athletic Foundation are taking part in a day that emphasis the importance of philanthropic gifts and the impact it makes on an organization," said Brian Morrison, Southern Miss Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development. "As we strive to support our student-athletes at the highest level we are always looking for creative avenues to engage our current and potential supporters. No matter the size of a gift someone makes, it will have an impact on our student-athletes lives. We hope this day will inspire our generous supporters and fans to share with their family and friends how important supporting our student-athletes' scholarship fund is. Philanthropic donations, such as Eagle Club memberships and gifts to support other areas within Athletics are vital to the continued success of our program."

What is #GivingTuesday:
We have a day for giving thanks (Thanksgiving). We have two for getting deals (Black Friday and Cyber Monday). Now, we have #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back. On Tuesday, December 1, 2015, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.
