This week's Golden Eagle Player of the Week is Golden Eagle football player DeAndre Brown.
Brown, the highly-touted 6-foot-6 freshman wide receiver from Ocean Springs, Miss., became the first freshman in Southern Miss history to record over 1,000 receiving yards on Saturday against East Carolina.
The Golden Eagles won that game, their third straight, 21-3.
Brown currently has 1,057 receiving yards on the year and 12 touchdowns. He currently sits in second place, behind Southern Miss great Sherrod Gideon, for most touchdowns in a single season. Gideon had 13 in 1998.
Redshirt freshman quarterback Austin Davis and Brown connected on a 97-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter of Saturday's game. It is the longest touchdown pass from scrimmage in Southern Miss history.
Brown had eight catches for 124 yards, and it was his fourth time this season to have at least 100-yards in a game.
