HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- WXHB 96.5 in Hattiesburg is the new flagship radio station for women's basketball and baseball. The station will carry all game broadcast, along with Golden Eagle Hotline with women's basketball Head Coach Joy Lee-McNelis.
The station is owned by Blakeney Communications. All of Southern Miss' flagship radio stations are part of the Blakeney family.
"We are very pleased to further our partnership with Blakeney Communications," Owen Shull, General Manager, Southern Miss ISP Sports Network said. "We have worked with Larry and Debbie for several years as our football and basketball flagship partner and think that this is a natural fit. This move will allow for our radio networks to grow as both our women's basketball and baseball programs continue to advance. I think all Southern Miss fans will be pleased with our new home for Southern Miss women's basketball and baseball in Hattiesburg."
"Adding this additional programming makes sense for our station and our philosophy," Larry Blakeney, Owner, Blakeney Communications said. "We want to be the Pine Belt's home for Southern Miss Athletics. Not only do we enjoy cheering for the Golden Eagles, but we also see the great value that the University brings to the community, and are proud to be a part of it."
"Our partnership with Southern Miss Athletics and ISP Sports has been a very productive one in the past, and I am pleased that we have developed it further," Debbie Blakeney, Sales Manager, Blakeney Communications said. "We look forward to working together for many years to come."
