Both seniors led their teams to successful weeks
HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Senior outside hitter Stephany Purdue and senior offensive lineman Cameron Tom were awarded Southern Miss' first Student Athlete Advisory Committee Player of the Week Award for the 2016-2017 season.
Purdue's 58 kills over the past week led the team and she has a season attacking percentage of .361. She is also averaging 4.4 kills per set over the season and was the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week last week for her Tiger Classic MVP performance at LSU.

Tom's offensive line gave up zero sacks and allowed the offensive to gain 615 total yards against Savannah State. Southern Miss also had two players that rushed for over 100 yards in back-to-back games for the first time since 2008.
Tom, a marketing major, will look to help his team get to 3-0 Saturday when Troy comes in for a 6 p.m. game.
