HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss Director of Athletics Jeff Hammond announced Thursday the hiring of Chad Foote as Executive Director of the Eagle Club.
Foote, who has been on the Golden Eagle staff as first a graduate assistant and then in an Assistant Director role since 2009, replaces Dick Vogel who retired from the University earlier this summer.
"After conducting an extensive search for the right person on our managerial team, we felt Chad was that individual to fill that void which was opened when Dick Vogel decided to retire," said Hammond. "In his time here, Chad has demonstrated the character, ethics and drive to make a difference in this critical position on our staff."
During his time as assistant director, Foote developed relationships with current and potential donors and helped increase Eagle Club memberships with businesses and alumni in the Hattiesburg area.
In addition, he oversaw that recent graduate program promoting the Eagle Club to those individuals who matriculated from Southern Miss within three years as well as creating and developing the Student Eagle Club which grew to over 2,700 members in its inaugural academic year in 2011-12.
He also coordinated seating for Eagle Club members for athletic events as well as their parking.
Prior to his Southern Miss tenure, Foote worked as a contract lawyer with Swetman, Baxter & Massenburg in Hattiesburg, from 2009-2010, and also worked as a law clerk at Facemyer & Associates in Provo, Utah, from 2007-09.
Foote, a native of Hattiesburg, is a 2006 graduate of Utah State, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Economics. His post-graduate degrees include a Juris Doctorate from S.J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah in 2009 and then his Masters of Science in Sports Management from Southern Miss in 2010.
Foote, along with his wife, Colleen, have two daughters, Sadie and Alyssa.
