Southern Miss Welcomes Fans to Tax Free Weekend Events

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss athletics department is pleased to announce its special offers and appearances around Hattiesburg and online in conjunction with the State of Mississippi's Tax Free Weekend.

Seymour, cheerleaders and athletics staff members will embark to multiple locations Friday and Saturday, passing out posters and schedule cards as well as taking season ticket orders (including Flex and Mini Plans) for the upcoming Football season. Additionally, as part of Tax Free Weekend, all handling fees for season tickets, flex and mini plans will be waived for in-person, online ( and phone transactions (1-800-844-TICK; Friday only). As an added bonus, all current football season ticket holders will also receive a 25 percent-off coupon to Barnes and Noble when their season tickets are mailed to them. This coupon may be used any time before Dec. 31.

Friday's destinations include Campus Book Mart (3-4 p.m.) located directly across from campus and Turtle Creek Mall's (1000 Turtle Creek Dr.) food court area from 4 to 6 p.m.

Saturday will be a marathon for Golden Eagle fans and shoppers looking to get involved. The journey begins at Dick's Sporting Goods (1000 Turtle Creek Rd.) from 10 -- 11 a.m. as well as Academy Sports and Outdoors (The Ridge at Turtle Creek) from 10 a.m. to Noon. The Golden Eagle crew will then shift its gears within the west side of Hattiesburg to Belk within Turtle Creek Mall from Noon to 3 p.m., Walmart on Highway 98W from 2 to 4 p.m. and Target in Turtle Creek Crossing from 3 to 5 p.m.

The Southern Miss summer tour began with the Jackson All-Star Party on July 21, the Gulf Coast Beach Bash the next night, and then the Football 101: Chalk Talk for Ladies event inside M.M. Roberts Stadium on Monday night.

The Golden Eagles begin their football season Sept. 3 at Kentucky, with kickoff set for 6:30 p.m. The first home game of the season will be on Sept. 10 at 6 p.m. as Southern Miss plays host to Savannah State.
