Social Media Campaign to Expand Southern Miss Athletics Brand and Awareness

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss Athletics Department is ramping up its social media efforts for the 2011-12 year as Golden Eagle fans will notice a greater presence, effort and exposure on Facebook and Twitter as well as videos on along with online interaction.

"With the explosion of social media it only makes sense that Southern Miss Athletics continue to grow and expand in these avenues," said Brent Jones, Southern Miss Associate Athletic Director for Communications. "With the new additions of Mark Buchanan as Coordinator of Athletic Sales, Michael Short, Manager of Multimedia Services, and Steven May, Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Technology, Southern Miss Athletics looks to take the social media and online experience to the next level by integrating all of the various mediums of marketing, advertising and communications to better serve and engage our fans."

Special prizes, discounts, coupons, and information will available to new and current followers of Southern Miss Athletics Facebook and Twitter accounts. There will be updated videos and web only content highlighting coaches, players, and behind the scenes articles.

The goal for this campaign is to have over 10,000 likes on Facebook and over 5,000 followers on Twitter for the start of football season.
