HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Last month, Southern Miss student-athletes participated in the One Shirt One Body (OSOB) Initiative implemented by the C-USA Student-Athletes Advisory Committees (SAAC) for the spring 2016 term.
The founders of One Shirt, One Body, who are student-athletes from Notre Dame, contacted Conference USA and asked all the schools in conference to participate in the program. All institutions collected gently worn shirts, shorts, sweatshirts and sweatpants from April 3-9, 2016.
"I thought One Shirt, One Body was a huge success!" said SAAC vice president Danielle Block. "We collected over 100 shirts, and then we had the opportunity to go share our love for Southern Miss Athletics with the kids at the Boys and Girls Club."
Southern Miss SAAC collected over 100 shirts and other clothing items. All donated items came from our student-athletes and were delivered to the Boys and Girls Club of Hattiesburg on April 20, 2016. SAAC members played games with over 50 children in the after school program. Athletes from Softball, Soccer, Volleyball, Men's Golf, Women's Golf, and Baseball were in attendance.
Southern Miss Senior Women's Administrator and SAAC Faculty advisor said this about the initiative and SAAC vice president, Danielle Block: "Danielle Block has shown tremendous leadership all year with our SAAC, and especially with this initiative. She organized every effort from beginning to end with our student-athletes. I am proud of the role she continues to play on campus and with the Conference USA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. I am looking forward to her leadership as the President for SAAC for 2016-17."
