Today marks a new day for Southern Miss athletics. Our official website, SouthernMiss.com has undergone a re-design and was debuted today. The new site will continue to update and implement its content changes throughout the remainder of the week.
Michael Short, who is the Manager of Southern Miss Athletics Multimedia Services, was the driving source behind the new look. It features a more modern, updated look, which will be more user-friendly, easier to navigate and the video window on the front page will be much larger.
The site is more streamlined with several easily accessible drop-down menus, including links to tickets, the Eagle Club and the on-line store, ShopSouthernmiss.com. The bottom front page will have information regarding the up and coming schedule of events and a promotions section. Video of live events, video features, weekly press conferences, highlight packages and post-practice interviews will be more prominent and easily assessable either free or by subscription. The new site is cleaner and a more organized look.
We appreciate the hard work of Michael Short, who recently joined our staff, and has orchestrated many of the changes on our website and social media outlets.
We also want to thank Steven May for his production work of streaming the Golden Eagle baseball broadcasts over Southernmiss.com. May, who joined our staff fulltime late last fall as Director of Video Technology, is making a huge difference with our video board operations in football, basketball and baseball and the video feeds on Southernmiss.com.
In closing, I want to congratulate Coach Scott Berry and the Golden Eagle baseball team for its success this season. Not only have we been nationally ranked most of the year, our RPI has been in the top 20 throughout the season and we have led the C-USA Conference standings all spring.
At its baseball series this weekend with UAB, the Golden Eagles will host Military and First Responder Appreciation Day. The game is slated for 2 pm on Saturday and the pre-game ceremonies will include the introduction of up to four Southern Miss graduates who are retired military Generals, a special presentation of the National Anthem and the unfolding of a gigantic American Flag. All military and first responders will be admitted for $3.
I hope you will join us this weekend for the very important UAB series, which begins Friday night at 6, Saturday's special game at 2, and followed by the final game on Sunday at 1. We need your continued support as we strive for the C-USA title, our ninth consecutive NCAA Regional, hopefully hosted by the Golden Eagles.
