HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss student-athletes Danielle Block, Brooke Boisseau, Dana Dillistone and Katie Dozier were selected for the prestigious Who’s Who Among Students Award Tuesday night at the Bennett Auditorium.

More than 1,000 schools grant this honor and the students awarded receive national recognition for their scholastic achievement. Students are selected by their outstanding service to the community and school.

Who’s Who Among Students honors students from both two-year and four-year universities and colleges as well as graduate and Ph.D. programs.

Block, a senior softball player, was named to the Southern Miss Hall of Fame and the Who’s Who Among students award. Through her time on the softball team, Block was a part of the C-USA All-Academic Team, Capital One Academic All-District Team and awarded the University of Southern Mississippi Freshman Student-Athlete of the Year Award in 2014. Block serves on the Student-Athletes Advisory Committee, where she served as a representative, vice president and president. Block and cross-country standout Dana Dillistone will both be attending the University of Mississippi Medical Center in the fall.

Boisseau, a member of the all-girl cheerleading squad, was honored with three awards Tuesday night: The Southern Miss Hall of Fame, Who’s Who Among Students and the Phi Kappa Phi Silver Bowl Award. The Phi Kappa Phi Silver Bowl Award is the highest scholastic honor given to any student at Southern Miss. This honor is given to any student who not only maintains a 4.0 GPA, but also has the highest number of total credit hours from the University.

Boisseau is a Presidential Scholar and has been awarded the USM Scholar-Athlete award, HEADWAE Award, Order of Omega Membership and the Clayton Sullivan Scholarship. Boisseau serves as a study-abroad peer adviser and as a tutor in the USM Athletics Department. After graduation, Boisseau will attend law school at the University of Virginia.
