HATTIESBURG, Miss. - A pair of University of Southern Mississippi athletic media guides recently were recognized by the College of Sports Information Directors of America with Top 15 national rankings.
The Southern Miss volleyball and women's basketball media guides, both written and edited by Golden Eagle Associate Athletic Media Relations Director Shirley Hill, and designed by the Provations Group out of Lexington, Ky., were the publications lauded by the organization.
"This acknowledgement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of Shirley and rest of the staff that helped in the production of these media guides," said Jack Duggan, Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations. "We also have to thank Jai Giffin and Jamie Barker from the Provations Group for their continued hard work in assisting us through this process with every one of our media guides and their top-notch design work."
The volleyball media guide earned a No. 11 nation ranking out of 73 entrants and finished fourth in District VI, which covers the states of Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas and Oklahoma, behind Oklahoma, LSU and Texas A&M.
Southern Miss finished 14th out of 85 entries in the women's basketball competition and captured a third-place finish in the district behind Oklahoma and LSU.
