HATTIESBURG, Miss. - A huge day of family events highlights the 2014 Eagle Fest Weekend, Friday, April 18, through, Sunday, April 20, the Southern Miss Department of Athletics announced on Friday.
The events surrounding this year's Eagle Fest include a Future Golden Eagles Football Camp, a Champions Brunch, the annual Black and Gold Football game, a fair on Pride Field, The Pride of Tailgating Challenge, Southern Miss baseball and an Easter egg hunt.
Eagle Fest will get started with a bang this year after the Friday Night baseball game against Louisiana Tech as there will be a fireworks show immediately following the 6 p.m., contest.
On Saturday, the Pride of Tailgating begins the day on Pride Field which is open to all fans who love tailgating who want to show off their tailgating skills and spend the day with other Southern Miss fans, by entering the Pride of Tailgating Challenge.
Fans are encouraged to reserve their tailgating spot as soon as possible as space is limited to 25 tailgating spots for the Pride of Tailgating promotion. To reserve your tailgating spot at Pride Field call Kyle George, Director of Marketing and Sales, at 601-266-6866 or email Kyle.George@usm.edu. All fans will be responsible for their tailgating needs. Tents, tables, chairs, grills, games, and coolers are allowed. The tailgate that has the most Golden Eagle Pride will win a $200 gift card from Leatha's BBQ, an autographed football helmet from Coach Monken, participate in Eagle Walk with the football team next fall and score pre-game sideline passes.
From 10 a.m., until noon at The Trent Lott Center, fans will have a once in a lifetime opportunity to hear from five of the greatest Golden Eagle football players ever at the Champions Brunch. The inaugural Champions Brunch will feature a meet and greet session and a football forum consisting of NFL Hall of Fame inductee Ray Guy, Southern Miss Legend Club members Reggie Collier and Coach Jeff Bower, and former Golden Eagle greats Jeff Kelly and Rod Davis. The Champions Brunch is only open to current Eagle Club members and football season ticket holders. The cost of the brunch is $10 and fans wishing to attend must purchase a ticket ahead of time to accommodate seating. To purchase tickets please call the Eagle Club at 601-266-5299.
The 3rd Annual Future Golden Eagles Football Camp will take place from 11 a.m. - noon at The Rock with registration beginning at 10:30 a.m. at Gate 1 of The Rock. The camp is free and open to boys and girls ages 4-12 years old. Members of the Southern Miss football coaching staff and team will provide instruction to the children as the campers will go through various football drills.
The annual Black and Gold football game will be held at Carlisle-Faulkner Field at M.M. Roberts Stadium beginning at 1 p.m., and admission to the game is free.
Beginning at 2 p.m., Pride Field will be transformed into a carnival of fun for the entire family. There will be numerous inflatables for the kids, music, tailgating, as well as a dunking booth featuring special Southern Miss personnel with proceeds going to charity. In addition, the Hattiesburg Zoo will be on site as well as face painting stations by the Southern Miss cheerleaders and Seymour. The basketball team will feature a shooting contest, while the women's golf team will provide a chipping demonstration and the soccer program will hold a goal shootout. Special food will be available for purchase, including snow cones, frozen lemonade and Frito pies.
At 3 p.m., all children are invited to partake in Seymour's Easter Egg Hunt at The Payne Center.
At 4 p.m. the Southern Miss baseball team will then play host to Louisiana Tech, in a contest, pushed back from its original 2 p.m., game time. It will be the team's annual Military Appreciation game. Following the game an autograph session will be held on the field where all children and families are invited on the field to meet and greet the baseball team.

10:30 a.m. - Future Golden Eagles Football Camp registration for ages 4-12 years old. Camp is free.
11 a.m. - The Pride of Tailgating Tents in place
11 a.m. - Future Golden Eagles Football Camp at The Rock
