NCAA Releases Two-Year Academic Progress Rate Data
Football finished in the top 20 percent, baseball, men's track and women's soccer finished in the top 30 and men's basketball and women's golf finished in the top 40

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The NCAA has released it two-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) data today, in a report which also contains comparisons to national rates among all Division I schools and all public institutions.
"We are pleased with the overall APR Rates for Southern Miss," Giannini said. "The report shows that our sports are in compliance with NCAA standards for Academic progress. We are especially pleased with the sports of football, baseball, basketball and track for our men's sports and soccer, golf and tennis for our women's sports. This is a tribute to the outstanding job our academic services staff has done, our coaches and especially our student athletes."
The two sports for Southern Miss that rated the highest were football and baseball. Football finished in the top 20 percent of the nation with an APR number of 971, compared to the average of 929 among all Division I football schools and 920 among public institutions which sponsor football. Baseball finished in the top 30 with an APR number of 956, compared to the average of 931 among all Division I baseball schools and 920 among public institutions which sponsor baseball. Men's Track and women's soccer finished in the top 30 and men's basketball and women's golf finished in the top 40.
Giannini also added, "Our mission is the same as the University, to educate and graduate our student athletes and once again the national academic rates indicate we continue to be successful in that mission."
