HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The home schedule for Southern Miss athletics will be packed this Saturday, Feb. 22, with events involving softball, baseball and men's basketball on the Golden Eagle campus.
The Southern Miss softball team gets things underway with a 12 noon doubleheader against Detroit at the Southern Miss Softball Complex, while the baseball squad entertains Louisiana-Lafayette at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field for a single contest at 1 p.m.
The Golden Eagle men's basketball squad will then play host to the "Showdown in TyndallTown" versus UTEP in a 5 p.m., contest at Reed Green Coliseum.
In addition that day, Hattiesburg and the Southern Miss campus will hold the 2014 Caerus Mardi Gras parade at 11 a.m.
The parade will begin at the Hillcrest Residence Hall parking lot on the northeast corner of campus, travel down the U.S. 49 service road adjacent to the east side of campus, then west down Hardy Street to 38th Avenue, turning right onto 38th Avenue. The parade will end at Morningside Drive.
Please be advised there will be several street closures that might impact travel to and from campus.
- Hardy Street, from U.S. 49 to 38th Avenue, will be closed from 10 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
- Fourth and Seventh streets will be closed at the intersection near service drive along U.S. 49 from 10:30 a.m. - noon.
- Fourth Street will remain open from 38th Avenue to Golden Eagle Avenue.
- North and south bound traffic will be open on 40th Avenue.
