HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss Athletics announces a new program that welcomes all newcomers to Hattiesburg and Southern Miss Athletics.
A person relocating to the Hattiesburg area has the opportunity to receive a free Eagle Club membership and discounted season tickets for all athletic events.
"With so many new families arriving in Hattiesburg, we had to develop a plan to get them involved in the community," said Scott Car, Associate Director of Athletics for External Affairs. "We saw this as a golden opportunity to get families with ties, or no ties to Southern Miss for involvement so they can enjoy the tremendous recreation opportunities the university area has to offer."
The initial concept was to use Coldwell Banker realtors as the test case, then open the program up to any realtor who is active in the Eagle Club.
"Gwen James and Don Nace have set the standard for other firms in the Hattiesburg area to emulate," said Dick Vogel, Executive Director of the Eagle Club. "Not only does Coldwell Banker advertise heavily with ISP (International Sports Properties- the marketing sales arm of Southern Miss Athletics) but they and their sales staff are actively involved in the Eagle Club. Additionally, their office was one of the first to establish a matching gift program for all sales associates to have membership in the Eagle Club."
The program is established to welcome all newcomers to Hattiesburg and make them immediately feel part of the community. The first year Eagle Club membership is totally complimentary as an effort to create involvement. A Coldwell Banker sales agent will provide the newcomer with a packet that only needs to be filled out with name and address, and the Eagle Club will send the membership packages and ticket information.
Realtors of other agencies are encouraged to get involved in the program by contacting the Eagle Club at 601-266-5299.
